Karlsruhe: Daycare centres for children

Every child who has reached three years of age has a legal right to a kinder­gar­ten place. This legal right also applies to children with disabi­li­ties and should be imple­men­ted in the kinder­gar­ten which offers the best support for the child with disabi­li­ties.

Whether an inclusive kinder­gar­ten or a Schul­kin­der­gar­ten (preschool for children with disabi­li­ties) is best suited to the needs of the child and the family must be clarified between the parents and the respective facility in the course of intensive consul­ta­tion.

In Karlsruhe, parents receive advice and support in their decision-making process at the Frühför­der­stelle (early support centre) of the Rehabi­li­ta­ti­ons­zen­trum Südwest (reha­bi­li­ta­tion centre Südwest), at the consulting office of the Lebens­hilfe Karlsruhe and at the special education consulting centres affiliated with special schools.

Care services for children and teenagers with disabi­li­ties

Children who need special support at a daycare centre due to their physical, mental or emotional develop­ment can obtain pedago­gi­cal and/or accom­pa­ny­ing support. Support is also possible when children and teenagers with signi­fi­cant physical or mental disabi­li­ties need support in order to attend an ordinary school.
