Smarter City
The SmarterCity initiative uses networked activities to develop new business models and flagship initiatives which increase the innovating powers of businesses and aim to highlight Karlsruhe as a business location for the future. Multiple areas of activity were designated for this purpose.
In total, the innovation circle SmarterCity Karlsruhe has created six areas of activity for the SmarterCity initiative:
- SmartHouse
Model projects for energy efficiency, intelligent automation and control technology or communication solutions for buildings and commercial real estate - SmartMobility
Intelligent use of existing transport infrastructure and creation of new future-oriented structures - Public services
Intelligent city interactions with businesses and residents - Kombi-Lösung
Use of modern technology for construction site management, information for residents and service for retailers - Energy
Energy-independent city, HotSpots - model projects for efficient energy generation, storage and administration solutions - SmartCulture
The Culture App gives an overview of the programme offered by 145 cultural institutions in Karlsruhe.
Wirtschaftsförderung (Economic Development Department) as coordinator
The Amt für Wirtschaftsförderung offers the SmarterCity initiative as a platform for the exchange and creation of ideas. SmarterCity players discuss and further develop individual topics and concept proposals in sub-groups.
